Mr. Chair wrung his hands as he waited. It had only been a few moments since he had returned with the three women from the garden, and still he was trying to recover from the effects of the blizzard. Warmth wasn't the only reason he wrung his hands, nervousness played a big role in his actions as well. The three women who had accompanied him back to Jennifer's room had never said a word to him, which he tried not to think of as rude. He couldn't blame them; silence was their secret of survival, just as chairmode was to his kind. Regardless, all they had done was enter the room without a second glance and lock the door shut behind them; apparently they didn't mess around when it came to the aid of one of their own. Mr. Chair, not knowing what else he could do, began pacing the carpet; wringing his palms but also keeping a sharp eye out for any dangers that may come near.

The irises of Jennifer's eyes looked like two silver moons as she stared at her friend, processing what she had just heard. The course of childbirth had never been fully explained to her when she was younger, and she was too shy to ask anyone about it now that she was older, so she honestly didn't have a clue as to what was going on.
"What does that mean?" She asked, terror rocking her voice.
Mr. Chair didn't appear to be in much better shape than Jennifer was; his face was ghostly pale and his hands were beginning to tremble. He looked to be on the verge of fainting, but by some miracle he managed to keep most of his composure…at least on the outside.
"It means you're in labor." He said, trying to remain calm as he bit off the last of his nails.
Jennifer's throat went dry as the reality of Mr. Chair's words set in. Absentmindedly, she ran her hand down the bulge of her abdomen.
"So," She said, almost in a daze. "The baby is…"
